Marketing, stage by stage
A marketing tool is only useful once you know which job it is doing.
Most lists of AI marketing tools are organised by the product. That is the least useful way round, because it asks you to already know what you need. This site starts from the campaign instead: the stages a piece of marketing moves through, and the kind of help that is actually available at each one.
The stages of a campaign
What happens at each stage, and the kind of tool that belongs there.
Deciding what to say
Working out the offer, the audience and the angle before anything is written.
- Research and audience notes
- Positioning and messaging
- Offer and pricing copy
Making the thing
Turning the angle into copy, images and video that can actually run.
- Copywriting and editing
- Images and short video
- Layout and sizing per channel
Getting it out
Scheduling, sending and posting, and keeping the timing consistent.
- Email and newsletters
- Social scheduling
- Ads setup and targeting
Seeing what happened
Reading the result honestly, and deciding what to change next time.
- Analytics and reporting
- Attribution, within reason
- Testing and iteration
The board is deliberately empty. Naming a tool in each column before the write-up exists would be a recommendation nobody has earned, so the cards stay blank until there is something to put in them.
What this site is for
Marketing software is sold on what it can do at its best. The more useful question for a small business is what it does on an ordinary Tuesday, with one person running it and no budget for a specialist. That is the question this site is organised around.
